Enjoy a Day in Latin America at Silver Lake’s Spring Barrel 2025.  

 

Come to Silver Lake Wine & Spirits and enjoy barrel samples of our 2024 Carmenere and 2024 Malbec with a bonus tasting of our 10-year-old brandy. Latin American Empanadas and music will also be available.

 

Known as Chile’s grape, Carmenere was thought to have been lost after the European phylloxera plaque in 1867 as it was not replanted. However, it was rediscovered in Chile in 1994 where it was believed to have been Merlot for many years. Today, Chile is the largest producer of Carmenere.

 

Malbec is known as Argentina’s grape but got its origins in France. Similar to the Carmenere grape, Malbec’s popularity declined in France due to the phylloxera plaque and a severe frost in 1956.  Malbec was saved when it found a new home in the mountainous regions of Argentina like Mendoza.  Today, over 75% of Malbec is grown in Argentina. 

 

We believe the Roza Hills Vineyards is an ideal location for growing these two late ripening varieties due to the warm climate of the Rattlesnake Hills and the high altitude (1200 feet above sea level)) of our plantings.   Planted in 2021, this is the first harvest of these grapes and will become a welcome addition to our Roza Estates Wines produced by Silver Lake. 

 

As a bonus, we will be offering barrel samples of our 10-year-old brandy produced from our estate vineyard and our special Latin American empanadas and music.  Of course, our famous pizza from our brick oven will also be available.   All of our newly released wines will be available for tasting and we will have special pricing on our previous vintages.
